David Thomas McCarter, 41, of Indian Hills, Texas, ascended on the morning of December 30, 2011 in Wiergate, Texas. He was born March 29, 1970 on Easter Sunday in Beangard Parish, in Leesville, Louisiana, to his beloved parents Ned and Marie McCarter Jr. David was the third-born son of seven siblings. At an early age David was baptized and gave his life to the Lord. Throughout his time on earth he would pursue an education in Ministry and help to lead many souls into the faith of God.
After graduating from Burkeville High in 1988 he entered into the United States Army and served his tour of duty at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. He served as a leader as a Communications Network Engineer. After an honorable discharge, he continued to work with the military through the reserves and civilian contracting. Upon his discharge David returned back home to live in Dallas, Texas and decided to attend ITT Technical Institute. His cousin, Maria, introduced him to Gabrielle Dickey of San Francisco, Ca. He proposed within seven days and five months later they were inseparable. David and Gabrielle joined in holy matrimony on August 24, 1992. There were four children that resulted from this union.
David later accepted his calling as a Minister and preached his first sermon on April 16, 1995 under the supervision from his childhood Pastor Rev. Wesley Renfro. David was a proud, intelligent and charismatic man who embodied an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for reading and learning new things. There was rarely a topic that David could not speak with great wisdom on. He was a self-taught educator and has been referred to as "A genius of his time." From the early 1990's through 2011 he excelled in everything he put his hands to do, from Ministry, Telecommunications, Sales Management, and Real Estate Loans to Music. David had the opportunity to work in Management for some of the Top Fortune 500 Companies: MCI WorldCom, Quest, SBC, ATT, Birch Telecom, and most recently until February 2010 as a contractor with France Telecom.
David McCarter wasn't a stranger to anyone. Every road he traveled down he would meet someone new and then he would tell you all about that experience. He would drop nuggets of wisdom and knowledge no matter the age. David didn't need long to find a topic of conversation that would peak their interest either. He did the majority of his ministry on foot and did not sit to wait for an opportunity on the platform of the pulpit to open up. He greeted you with that big grin and distinctive laugh that would make you warm inside. Many of us would sit on the edge of our seats to hear what profound message he would bless our minds with next. David had a vocabulary to be reckoned with for he spent countless hours reading the dictionary. He worked tirelessly as an advocate for the Ministry of God and committed a large portion of his life and time to the service of numerous churches: Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Wiergate, TX, New Destiny Christian Center, Raleigh, NC Buck St. Memorial CO.G.I.C and New Life Tabernacle of Houston, Texas. He was very proud of the achievement of Ordained Elder on October 2, 2000.
